Church
Multiplication/Health
Every church is unique, and God works in each in sovereign ways
that defy simple classification. Even so, there are characteristics of church health that are
identifiable, and worthy of seeking for our congregations.

Attendance figures are not the
best indication of health. Even so, for purposes
of classification we must use what we have, the statistics from our annual reports. From these, we have
developed the following health systems…
Wellness Care- churches
with weekend average attendance over 80
Special Care- churches
between 50 and 79
Intensive Care- churches
under 50
Developing Care- church
plants and revitalization churches.
Within these health systems, we
are using…
- Natural Church
Development is becoming the standard for
assessing church health, and when coupled with coaching, it provides an excellent means of addressing the
minimum factor of eight quality characteristics of a healthy church. We have NCD certified coaches available to assist you.
Contact us at health@sedcma.org. Explores NCD at www.ncd-international.org.
- Becoming a Healthy
Church is an excellent alternative for churches
that desire to work through the ten qualities of Biblical health identified by Stephen
Maachia. The online assessment tool can be
customized, and is to be used by the whole congregation. Explore this further at www.healthychurch.net and contact us at health@sedcma.org.
- Pastor and leader
assessments are available using IDAK and
StrengthsFinder. A professional counselor has
been obtained who is prepared to assist pastors seeking insight into their emotional health, family
relationships, and ministry fit. Please contact the District Superintendent to discuss this further at
chuck@sedcma.org
- Church
evaluations by peers (pastors and lay leaders) are being developed. If you would like to be involved at this early stage as we form
teams equipped in evaluating churches that request insights from outsiders, please contact us at health@sedcma.org.
- Coaching
provides a powerful way to be the pastor you desire to be,
and lead the church as you see it should be led. A ministry or life coach is best chosen by the one seeking the
coaching, and usually is a fee-based relationship. Please contact the District Superintendent at
chuck@sedcma.org for further guidance.
- Link2Lead
offers reliable and innovative demographic resources for any level of church
ministry. These powerful tools are
available to all of our churches through June of 2010 at no cost. Explore this powerful tool at
www.link2lead.com. Follow the links to gain access, or
contact us at health@sedcma.org for a
tutorial.
A church that is healthy is where God
wants it to be,
and will grow in the way God wants it to
grow.
