Leader Health
What does a healthy leader look
like?
What must be addressed to enable
optimum capacity for leadership?
What components if not
addressed, could diminish capacity or even disqualify a man or woman for ministry?
These are important questions to
answer. Consider the following statistics
regarding pastors in the United States…
- The average pastor is at a
church for 18 months
- The average pastor’s career
today is only 14 years, less than one half the length of just a few years ago
- 1500 pastors in
the U.S. quit every month because of conflict, burnout, or moral failure; one half of these leave the
pastorate altogether
- Seventy-five percent report
at least one significant crisis due to stress
- Eighty percent say ministry
is affecting their families in a negative way
- Forty percent experienced
“serious relational conflict” at least once a month
- Seventy percent experienced
regular periods of major stress
- Ninety percent felt
inadequately trained to do the job*
The health of the pastor and
leader must be addressed so they can lead their churches into health.
So what are the components of
leadership health? We offer
these...

Based on the eight qualities of
a healthy church from Natural Church Development, we have chosen to address these eight priorities in a leader’s
life.
How will we address these
components?
Primarily through RLN’s… The
Superintendent, or his representative, intends to meet with pastors and official workers three times each year in
Regional LEAD Networks.
Regional-
meeting in 9 regions throughout the district, all workers can conveniently attend.
LEAD-
Leaders Encouraged, Aligned, and Developed.
Network- for
encouragement, stimulation, and cooperation.
The dates of the RLN’s are on
the district calendar.
