Serving the C&MA Churches and Workers of Florida and the Bahamas

Our Mission, Vision, and Values

C&MA Mission Statement

We desire to know Jesus Christ

as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King

and to complete His Great Commission.

Southeastern District Mission Statement (revised)

We are here to serve our churches in knowing Christ in His fullness

and completing His Great Commission.

Our focus is developing healthy leaders for missional, multiplying churches.

Explanation:

·         It is important to see our mission as an extension of the C&MA mission.   The first sentence is the district’s role in light of the mission of the C&MA.

·         “To serve” reminds us of Christ’s teaching on leadership.  Assisting, coaching, directing, leading without the underlying dimension of serving is unscriptural.

·         The district exists for “our churches”—the current churches of the C&MA in our region of Florida and the Bahamas.  While we also represent the National Office of the C&MA, they too seek to serve the churches.

·         “Knowing Christ in His fullness” is referencing the Fourfold Gospel, a distinctive we must uphold with our workers and churches.  It is our message.  It is our power.

·         “In completing” stresses that we must continue strong until the work is done.

·         “The Great Commission” of Matthew 28-18-20 is the primary issue in which the district can make a difference for the local church.  This includes the activities of win, build, equip, multiply and send, on both a local and world-wide basis.  Other issues are secondary.

·         “Our Focus” recognizes that there will be other things that the district must do, but we must intentionally come back to the most important matter.

·         “Is developing” communicates more than “equipping” as it connotes spiritual maturing as well as skill training.

·         Leaders must be “healthy” if their churches are going to be healthy, and we understand this health in the eight components of leader health.

·         “Leaders” are both pastors, elders, board members, and other leaders that the district has opportunity to work with.

·         “Missional” is the active engaging of the community with the love and message of Jesus Christ, both locally, regionally, cross-culturally, and globally.

·         “Multiplying” goes beyond addition in the increase of disciples, leaders, and churches.  In C&MA parlance, it includes church planting, church health, and disciplemaking.

·         Such “churches” are the outcome, in contrast to ministries of groups or individuals.

OUR VISION

We envision the Southeastern District as

a Christ-centered network of healthy C&MA churches led by healthy leaders,

impacting their communities and their world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ,

by multiplying disciples, leaders, ministries, congregations and sent ones.
